The 149th Open will be played at Royal St George’s Golf Club from Sunday 11 to Sunday 18 July 2021.
Local Area Restrictions
To assist with traffic management and reduce congestion in the vicinity of Royal St George’s Golf Club and Sandwich, temporary traffic regulations and parking restrictions will be introduced. These will be enforced by Dover District Council in order to minimise disruption to local residents and businesses, assist traffic flow and increase safety and security for all road users.
There will be no public car parking at Royal St George’s Golf Club or in the immediate surrounding area. All public parking will be located at The Open Park & Ride facilities, where dedicated buses will be available to transport spectators to the course.
Spectators choosing to travel to the event by car or motorcycle will be directed to The Open Park & Ride sites by Variable Messaging Signs (VMS) and specific black and yellow event signs provided by The AA. All digital parking tickets are for The Open Park & Ride facilities.
Spectators are advised to switch off satellite navigation systems and follow the appropriate signage.
From the North
Leave the M25 at Junction 2, after the Dartford Crossing. Follow the A2 and continue onto to the M2, then continue along the A299 at the end of the motorway and follow signs for The Open Park & Ride.
From the West
From the M25, continue onto the M26 at Junction 5, then merge onto the M20 and follow signs for The Open Park & Ride.
From the South
Follow the A20 towards Dover, then follow signs for the A2 on approach to the port. Continue for 2.5 miles, then leave the A2 to join the A256 and follow signs for The Open Park & Ride.

Car and Motorbike Parking
All public parking will be located at The Open Park & Ride facilities, where dedicated buses will be available to transport people arriving by car or motorbike to the course.
Parking tickets are available to purchase on arrival at a cost of £15 from Sunday 11 to Tuesday 13 July, and £20 from Wednesday 14 to Sunday 18 July. A £5 discount will be applied to tickets purchased in advance (up to the day before).
A limited number of weekly car park passes are available at a cost of £60. Weekly passes are only available in advance from TheOpen.com or by contacting The Open Ticket Office on +44 (0)1334 460010.
Motorbike parking is available at a cost of £5 per day.
Minibus parking is available at a cost of £25 per day for vehicles measuring between 5 metres and 7.99 metres in length and/or with a seat capacity between 10 and 22 seats. Drivers should follow signs to the Coach Park.
Coach parking is available at a cost of £40 per day for vehicles measuring 8 metres or more in length and/or a seat capacity greater than 22 seats. Drivers should follow signs to the Coach Park.
All minibus and coach parking is located within walking distance of the course.
Spectators with Disabilities
Spectators with mobility impairments or specific accessibility requirements are advised to telephone The Open Ticketing Team in advance on +44 (0) 1334 460010. Our ticketing team will be able to advise the arrangements that will be in place to assist spectators with additional mobility needs.
There will be a designated taxi rank and private hire drop off/pick-up area in operation for The Open from 11-18 July, located within walking distance of the course. Further details will be published here in due course.
Southeastern provides train services between six London terminal stations to destinations across Kent and East Sussex. It also operates the UK’s only domestic high speed rail service, with trains running to and from London St Pancras International.
Trains for The 149th Open will run from London St Pancras International to Sandwich – the nearest station to Royal St George’s Golf Club. These trains will also call at stations such as Ashford International, Stratford International and Ebbsfleet International, and connecting services will allow travel to destinations such as Canterbury, Dover and Folkestone.
All passengers will require a mandatory reservation on certain morning trains from London St Pancras International to Sandwich and all stations along the route during The 149th Open. Reservations will apply from Wednesday 14 July to Sunday 18 July from 06:00 to 10:37 (10:34 on Saturday 17 July) and will guarantee a space on the train but not necessarily a seat. Spaces will sell quickly so please ensure you book as soon as you can to avoid disappointment.
No reservation is required on the return journey and a managed queuing system will be in place at Sandwich Station to assist passengers with their journey and manage capacity on trains.
Highspeed trains from London St Pancras International take around 1 hour and 30 minutes to Sandwich, and a dedicated, traffic-free walking route will be provided between the train station and Royal St George's Golf Club, which will take around 15-20 minutes.

Sandwich is part of the local public bus network, which connects to local accommodation hubs such as Canterbury (43 service), Ramsgate (45 service), Deal and Dover (80 & 81 services).
